Attach-and-Train Programme (AnT)
for Robotics and Automation Sector

OVERVIEW

Under Workforce Singapore’s (WSG) Adapt and Grow initiative, Robotics Automation Centre of Excellence (RACE) introduces to you to the Attach-and-Train (AnT) programme for Robotics & Automation (RnA) talents, a manpower development initiative aimed at empowering engineering talents with a hands-on induction into RnA technologies, especially core robotic platforms and their various elements.

In this first evolution of the AnT following our pilot in April 2018, RACE has lined up an array of experienced industry practitioners to provide apprentice-style training to prepare agile engineers and technologists who are passionate about contributing in the RnA industry or even in roles relating to these technologies.

Drawing on the strong partner networks of PBA Group, which founded RACE, this AnT will also integrate job matching and professional career advisory to prepare and provide our candidates insights into exciting RnA roles in progressive companies of various sizes and across a range of industries.

How Does it work

Administered by RACE, applicants shortlisted for possible RnA roles in esteemed host companies will undergo rigorous training comprising three months of facilitated classroom sessions conducted by RACE’s qualified trainers. Trainees will adopt a hands-on learning approach with training and curriculum design based on real-world project experiences of PBA and its partners.

Programme structure

The total training duration will take up to six months, with 3 months of training held at RACE Academy and 3 months of On-the-Job training (OJT) attachment to respective host companies. Depending on the individual’s performance and the company’s assessment, host companies may offer deserving and competent AnT trainees contracts/permanent employment at any point during the 3-month OJT attachment. Until such employment has transpired, candidates will continue to receive their training allowance from RACE Academy, unless otherwise agreed and/or duly advised.

Next Intake: 23 September 2019 – 6 March 2020

what our talents say

"I would recommend this to professionals who would like to step into the field of automation and robotics. It’s a great jump start for young professionals looking at a career switch. For the experienced professionals, they also get to update themselves with the latest technological trends and skills in order to stay competitive."
Mr Ang Shao Cong

Electrical & Electronics engineer in his 30s, who pivoted from doing hardware development R&D in various multinationals to now contributing in a robotics & automation role for Structo, a Singapore-based dental 3D printing solutions provider.
"The course helped to prepare me with knowledge and understanding of Robotics and Automation, including the functions and coding required for the robots... I am happy with my current role as a Robotics System Engineer, which requires me to learn and contribute across different regions. I am still learning about my company's working structure and the robots."
Fazli

Mechanical engineering diploma holder in his 30s who is happy with his dynamic and globally-oriented role as a Robotics System Engineer in Global Automation Technologies, a Michigan-based Robotics and Automation solution provider specialising in complex processes for sectors like automotive.
